Antique Thin Brick

Today, many new historic-style buildings feature old bricks or cultural stones that are adopted by architectural designers to create an ancient atmosphere. The architecture designers also prefer the old terracotta bricks to preserve the original architectural style in the renovation projects. To show a sense of antiquity, old bricks are “intentionally” aged whenever possible in colors and textures. However, ordinary old bricks still look “new” and have a uniform but rigid grain compared to the historic bricks found in genuine old buildings.

LOPO has developed attractive antique thin brick based on its traditional counterparts. Unlike ordinary old terracotta bricks, LOPO manually designs and manufactures the surface texture. So that each piece of tile has a unique surface grain. The rough grain of the surface and the mottled colors on the handmade bricks convey a sense of antiquity and historical beauty, as if they were traces left by the weather in the long term.

“Twenty-four cities”, a project developed by CR Property and located in the city of Shenyang, uses LOPO terracotta sheet bricks of handmade series for the elevation of its building. Flat tiles and corner tiles of 9 types of thickness and length are cleverly installed in different positions of the building’s elevation, creating sophisticated lines and symmetrical design. The mottled prints on the surface of tiles, mainly red intense radiate a strong sense of antiquity. The soft dark red color, together with the porch with curved glass top, false ceiling of gypsum board and decorations like parchment lamp with metal ornaments, evoke a strong visual effect and a rhythm unique for these buildings.
